Introduction
Going into the big 2026, Windows as an OS has been doing pretty bad for the past years; like forced AI Implementations, Non-functional normal tasks, buffering Explorer, and more. With AI getting a lot of buzz nowadays, Microsoft took a bad pivot by utilizing clanker for their main factor to write their codes (like, a big portion of it). [citation required]. If you're one of the people who wants to stand up and say 'Screw off, Microsoft!', then you're in the right direction.
Or even better, you just want to try dipping your toes and get a taste of using UNIX-like OS, then you're set. These series of posts will be all about the steps on getting into Linux.
What to Expect
Windows Softwares Not Working (A little part of it)
Simply put; different environment, different language, law, culture, everything. For gamers, some games that uses anti-cheat (Vanguard, EAC, anything Kernel-level [Citation Needed]) will not work. For the white-collared people, no Microsoft Office, Excel, and other microsoft products (can make it work but tedious.). For other society people, no AutoCAD, Adobe Products (this one is a benefit), and some other softwares that goes unmentioned.
Good news is, there are alot of alternatives for such software. Here are the lists of some softwares that you might use. There are definitely more, you just have to google it.
Bad news is, they are probably not native format-wise. For example, if you use LibreOffice as Microsoft Office alternatives, some file format and documents will not render the same as it is naturally; they are not back-compatible with each other (FWIW, same goes with Google Docs). But again, there's literally Microsoft 360 which works natively as long as you have internet connection (online service).
You're in Full Control
Since no one is stopping you from doing anything (other than 'are you sure?'), you have all kinds of control of your system; this can be a good and bad thing.
If you're bored of the looks of your Desktop, you can delete them all entirely and change it into something else. You can also use multiple of them if you wanna quick-swap your ways, or putting a sidebar subway surfer video on your terminal, or automating certain repetitive tasks, you can do it...but it might took you into a whole rabbit hole.

Or if you want to nuke your whole system, you can simply delete everything by one single command;
bash
sudo rm -rf / #recursive force, or
sudo rm -fr / #removing french (xd)
